Gorilla habituation experience is a primate tourism activity that can only be encountered in the pearl of Africa, Uganda’s magical Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, which was introduced on the 1st of January 2014 through a government body called ‘’UWA, or Uganda Wildlife Authority. Two mountain gorilla families are dedicated to this wonderful experience in the Rushaga sector, among the four sectors of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in Uganda.

Mountain gorilla habituation allows travelers to spend more time with the endangered mountain gorillas compared to normal mountain gorilla trekking, which takes one hour. Mountain gorilla trekking involves trekking to and from the gorillas, which allows travelers to observe gorillas as well as take pictures in only one hour.

Gorilla habituation experience participants are accompanied by researchers and park rangers who explain to travelers how these mountain gorillas live in their natural habitats. Travelers really enjoy long hours with the gorillas as they see how they are habituated.

Gorilla habituation is an exceptional procedure where wild mountain gorillas are trained to get used to human beings, which takes about two to three years to be completely done. During the habituation process, researchers always visit, as they identify wild gorilla groups daily. Then the researchers get to study more about individual gorillas, mostly the way they behave, and many other things.
