Bwindi impenetrable national park was declared a national park in 1991 as a Gorilla national park although trekkers can also engage themselves in other activities such as Birding because it has been selected among the best Birders destination in Africa. Above that, Bwindi impenetrable forest national park harbors other primates like chimpanzees, monkeys, animals such as forest elephants, among others.
Bwindi impenetrable forest national park harbors over 1000 individuals in its four sectors which include the Rushaga sector, Nkuringo sector, Buhoma sector, and Ruhija sector. Uganda has two mountain gorilla trekking destinations, that is to say, Mgahinga Gorilla national park and Bwindi impenetrable forest national park which is home to half of the total mountain gorilla population worldwide. Bwindi Impenetrable forest national park and Mgahinga Gorilla national park hosts 21 habituated mountain Gorilla families which are ready to be visited.
Bwindi impenetrable national park is the only gorilla destination in Africa where mountain gorilla habituation experience can be done, gorilla habituation is a procedural activity where the wild mountain gorillas are trained to get used to the presence of human beings, Travelers are allowed to spend more time with mountain gorillas, travelers move with doctors, researchers, park rangers.
